Intego's VirusBarrier X6 is the best anti-virus software I've used on any system. I've had problems with anti-virus programs slowing down my PC or conflicting with Windows security features. So I wanted to make sure that wouldn't happen to my new MacBook, running Snow Leopard. I'm pleased to say it has not affected my MacBook's performance at all. VirusBarrier is simple to install and use and now I feel much better knowing not only is my personal information on my MacBook safe, but I won't be passing virus' to other family members who still have Windows based PCs.

Outstanding customer service. I ordered the wrong version of Internet Security Barrier X6. I thought I was getting the Dual version as I'm using parallels 5 and Windows XP. Once I had loaded the software I discovered my mistake and called their Sales Office. They were very helpful, understood my problem, and upgraded me at just the cost difference. There was no hassle about my mistake or costs.
I had no problem loading the software on either the Mac side or the Windows side. The Mac side went slower in the scan because of all the programs and files it needed to scan. I was prepared for this as I've had the same experience with Windows XP on my old computer. It took about three hours. The windows scan went much quicker but I didn't have a lot of software or files loaded.
This appears to be good software. I didn't experience any problems. I feel that my computer is protected on both sides. My thanks to the support and sales people of Intego

VirusBarrier works in the background but you can do daily or weekly scans of your entire system with one click. It's easy to set preferences and you really don't have to be a computer "expert" to use it. VirusBarrier updates itself at least once a week so that's about the only time you'll hear from it unless it finds a virus. VirusBarrier found 2 viruses for me so far this year and it killed them instantly. I recommend this excellent piece of software without reservation.

My previous experience with this sort of software on the Mac involved NetBarrier on my Mac Pro which is still in use. The addition of a Macbook Pro for on the go use had my concern for adding protection such as VirusBarrier. Listening to the Tech Guy otherwise known as Leo Leporte, does not to my knowledge suggest that anyone with a Mac needs to be concerned with any of the problems associated with the Windoze (Windows) OS and as a result does not need to add any software for virus or antivirus. That may or not be the case. My position is that by using this software, I am not passing on anything onto my PC using friends. Since installing the software four weeks ago my guess is that I have had at least five upgrades. These are probably Windows add ons since as far as I know there just are not any Mac problems beyond one or two as opposed to thousands of problems on Windows.
My years as an art instructor involved using Amiga, Macintosh and Windows computers. No matter what OS a person uses, it seems to me that it is our responsibility to add the necessary protection. VirusBarrier is a good choice for the Mac in my mind.

Anti-virus programs slow down your machine, don't let them tell you different. Even so, I would not dream of not using an Anti-virus program on my Windows machine, so I naturally bought this for my new MacBook Pro. Everyone says I'm nuts, that there are no virus writers out there targeting Macs. I say better safe than sorry, it is a cruel world full of thieves and scoundrels who love to make you miserable by doing the work of the devil. Cyber terrorism will eventually be just as bad for Macs as it is for PCs running Windows assuming Steve Jobs continues his weird ways of pissing off developers.
